Walter Sancassiani In last 15 years he carried out and managed projects on environmental
management, communication, training and education for local authorities,
companies, training centres, research institutes and Ngos. He has been one of the first professionals in Italy to deal with multi-stakeholders
governance tools like Local Agenda 21 processes, as a researcher and a
consultant. He edited the first monitoring surveys on LA21 processes in
Italy and he has been involved as supervisor, co-ordinator and facilitator
with fifteen Local Authorities at the national level (Regions, Provinces,
Municipalities), and supported from the technical point of view the set
up of the Italian Network of Local Agenda 21. In the recent years he organised and facilitated almost 150 multi-stakeholders participatory events included Forum, Workshops and Focus groups with the involvement of more than 2000 different actors (Local governments, companies, Ngos, schools). He promoted EASW ‚ workshops for ten Local Authorities and he’s National Monitor EASW for Italy. He has managed several training courses and seminars for many Local Authorities and has attended as a speaker many meetings and conferences on local urban sustainability in Italy. He works with several Universities, research centres at national and European level. He has been working also as a journalist editing several reviews and newspapers on environmental management issues in Italy and in Europe and many articles and essays. A book on urban sustainability and multi-stakeholders partnerships in Italy and an handbook on groups facilitation, will be released within 2002. Walter Sancassiani holds a B.A. in Foreign Literatures, a Diploma in Environmental Journalism and a European Master in Environmental Management (EAEME) and he attended several European courses on Local eco-instruments for local policies.
