Context

The wide range of managerial tools supporting sustainable development programmes and policies for local authorities and companies, is becoming more and more wide and sophisticated:
Environmental Management Systems ( Reg. UE EMAS/Iso 1400), Environmental Accountability and Eco-Balance, Sustainability-Triple Bottom Line Reporting, Social Audit (SA 8000), EMAS II, Products Life-Cycle Analyses, IPP, Green Purchasing, Sectorial Plans, Local Planning Tools, Health Action Plans, Local Agenda 21 Plans.
This mix of tools vary from some technically and product oriented, others interdisciplinary and multi-stakeholders process oriented.
The challenge becomes the integration and co-ordination in the implementation of these tools to combine coherent goals, targets and indicators, different levels of participation, in order to reach efficient, effective, participatory and valuable outcomes.

Our activities

Focus Lab gathers experience developed in 15 years of services and activities in the environmental management together with the public sector, companies, local authorities, research centres.

Our services provide:

• Technical support to integrate managing programmes and tools (Environmental Management Systems EMAS/ISO 14001, Green Purchasing; Local Agenda 21 Action Plans, Environmental accountability, Sustainability Reports, Social Audit, Social Action Plans)
• Analysis and comparison of different tools and plans from an environmental and social sustainable point of view
• Observatory on local sustainable development policies, managerial support and reporting.
